The Parlour is designed as an all-encompassing scene from short story, ‘Welcome to the Monkey House’ by Kurt Vonnegut. Set in a world where 17 billion people overpopulate earth, birth control pills are made mandatory, alcohol is illegal and suicide is presented as a seductive option. To eliminate hierarchy, a singular world government reigns and anti-aging shots are pronged. Breaking away from traditionally bound books, this project attempts to translate a narrative in a fresh avenue by perusing characters unique to the storyline as a backdrop to a selected collection of items, providing interplaying support to one another, altogether forming an installation.
